Leading a nonprofit board can be a formidable responsibility. Do you ever wish you had a source for advice and counsel? NESC, in partnership with the Fairfield County Community Foundation’s Center for Nonprofit Excellenc (CNE), has developed Board Chair Roundtables so board leaders can help each other address common challenges. A facilitated peer-to-peer learning network of 8-10 board leaders will be a forum to share practical experience with their peers, and have a network to draw upon when they have specific challenges.
- Networking: Informally connect with fellow board leaders. Engage in in-depth, candid discussions on the real issues facing your boards.
Practical Knowledge: Share best practices and practical experience. Take away real-time information you can use to better manage your board.
- Common Issues: Participate in a facilitated, topic-specific discussion format that will focus on common challenges: Roles and Responsibilities; Recruitment and Orientation; Meetings; Committee Structure; Strategic Planning; Evaluation.
The Roundtable will meet 2 times/year, with communication between sessions encouraged. Sessions will be topic-specific, as agreed upon by the group.
In the kick-off session, participants will get to know each other and their organizations. NESC will make a brief presentation on The 10 Most Common Issues Facing Board Leaders, and then will lead a discussion in which participants share their challenges and their approaches to these issues. Topics for future meetings will be prioritized.
