Leading a nonprofit board can be a formidable responsibility. Do you ever wish you had a resource for advice and counsel? NESC has developed Board Chair Roundtables so board leaders can help each other address common challenges. A facilitated peer-to-peer learning network of 8-10 board leaders will be a forum to share practical experience with their peers, and have a network to draw upon when they have specific challenges.
- Networking: Informally connect with fellow board leaders. Engage in in-depth, candid discussions on the real issues facing your boards.
- Practical Knowledge: Share best practices and practical experience. Take away real-time information you can use to better engage your board.
- Common Issues: Participate in a facilitated, topic-specific discussion format that will focus on common challenges: Roles and Responsibilities; Recruitment and Orientation; Meetings; Committee Structure; Strategic Planning; Evaluation; Fundraising.
The Roundtable will meet 2 times/year, with communication between sessions encouraged. Sessions will be topic-specific, as agreed upon by the group.
In the kick-off session, participants will get to know each other and their organizations. NESC will make a brief presentation on The 10 Most Common Issues Facing Board Leaders, and then will lead a discussion in which participants share their challenges and their approaches to these issues. Topics for future meetings will be prioritized.
Target Audience: Board Chairs and Board Presidents
Refreshments will be served.
